Place Description

Tregaron is a historic market town on the banks of the river Brenig. In the 19th century Tregaron was an important meeting place for drovers. The square of Tregaron is well known throughout the world and is where the statue of the apostle of peace, Henry Richard, stands. Not far from Tregaron is the magical chapel of Soar y Mynydd - the most remote chapel in the world. It was built to provide a place of worship for the farmers and drovers. Today Tregaron is famous for trotting, Twm Sion Cati, Cors Caron, Tregaroc, Y Talbot, many unique small shops and as the home of the 2020 National Eisteddfod of Wales.
