Place Description
Trearddur Bay is a village on Ynys Cybi (Holy Island) in the county of Anglesey. It lies approximately two miles south of the busy ferry port of Holyhead. The village has developed in an area historically known as Towyn Capel (chapel dune) with the first use of Trearddur being recorded in 1749. The name is thought to derive from Iarddur, a key figure in the Middle Ages. Today the village is the centre of a popular coastal resort where its south facing sandy beach, hotels, restaurants and bars, along with its proximity to the nearby natural beauty spots of Porthdafarch (a popular neighbouring beach) and South Stack form an ideal base for tourism.
